Description:
In the dark of the night…. The jungle has only one ruler… The majestic tiger. His grace, power and beauty is matchless. Unfortunately Tigers are not burning bright. Tigers have vanished from nearly 90 percent of its original range which extended from parts of Central Asia and Siberia to Indonesia. Poaching of tiger is a burning issue in today's world and Society for Heritage and Ecological Researches or popularly known as SHER, organised by the Global tiger fest to celebrate the International Tiger Day on 26th of July, 2022 at BSS school. On the Eve of International tiger day, environmentalist and tiger conserver Joydip Kundu along with Suchandra Kundu have taken a unique initiative to spread awareness on the importance of mangrove conservation and preservation of flora and fauna of Sundarbans, the homeland of the Royal Bengal tigers. Joydip Kundu an ex Josephyte Shedding more light on the topic introduced to the audience the other eminent guests like Actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty, director Arindam sil , director Raj Chakraborty. The evening witnessed a tête-à-tête of nature lovers, nature photographers, environmentalists from various corners of the country followed by a digital photography exhibition. The young Josephytes from classes 5,6,7and 8 took part in the programme and were enthralled by attending such a mesmerizing show. The “unsung heroes” of tiger terrain were the stars of the programme to celebrate the tiger on Tuesday. Sixty forest guards from different ranges of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve and the South 24-Parganas forest division were awarded at the school auditorium followed by a musical performance to mark the upcoming Global Tiger day.
